Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty automobiles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postboxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were contacted late on Wednesday evening, when a resident observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored fluid.
The substance had been drawn in the shape of a swastika, they added.
Police then found multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state early analysis show the fluid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; investigators are currently not cognizant of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials stated they were attempting "to solve the mystery" and have requested to the public for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the attack made him speechless and needed to be addressed quickly.
"This incident hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the trauma of the extremist attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, mentioning the killing of nine individuals by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in 2020.
